Cubo Claro, Wake Up and Enjoy

Cubo Claro, Wake Up and Enjoy

My first take on the Cubo Claro is, that it looks like any other Connecticut. I don’t mean that in a bad way, more like a, “here goes another light morning cigar” type way. I find myself trying to clear my mind, because most of the Connecticuts I’ve smoked seems like smoking wet newspaper through PVC pipe.  So anyway I grab the lighter that I can’t seem to find, because it’s 6 A.M. and only one eye is open at this point, and fire it up.  After smoking through the foot and into the first third, I get the taste of Cedar and a little earthiness (round earth not the flat one). The retrohale combines those flavors and adds a subtile hint of citrus, I’m thinking orange peels. The Cubo is smoking pretty good, as I move into the upper middle, in addition to the flavors mentioned I’m getting a hint of black pepper which kind of wakes up the palate. As I get within 10,000 feet and prepare for landing, the end of this stick remained consistent and surprisingly pleasant. I’d say after smoking the Cubo Claro, I will change my thinking on Connecticuts as this cigar has added some light to the sometimes too light to even try smokes. This cigar smokes Mild throughout and maybe touches the surface of medium in the final third. It burned great, having no issues with draw or the need to be touched up. The smooth and lightly creamy blend of Cedar, earthiness, little citrus and dash of pepper makes this one a good add for you early risers or for those who want a light treat between powerhouses.
