Black Works Studio Green Hornet, Stinging the Competition

Black Works Studio Green Hornet, Stinging the Competition
Since swarming onto the cigar scene in 2015, Black Works Studio has been creating tasty smokes much to the delight of the boutique fanbase. In 2016, The Green Hornet was originally released as an event only stick, as a follow up to the widely popular Killer Bee. In recognition of it’s demand James Brown, owner of Black Works Studio, decided to make the Green Hornet a part of the portfolio. I’ve got in my hand on the Robusto size, 5 x 48. The outer appearance of the Green Hornet is very unique. Similar to the Killer Bee, the Hornet uses a Candela wrapper for the light green rings near the cap and as a footer. The Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper is an oily dark brown with visible veins and some tooth. The cold draw is coffee, cocoa and pepper. Upon lighting the foot, you get a rush of flavor from the Candela foot, a combination of sweet grass, hay and white pepper. Into the first inch and beyond the Candela foot, the flavors are more coffee, cocoa, creamy cedar and white pepper. Smoking into the mid-section, the profile smooths out moving creamy cedar into the front of the palate with earth, coffee, white pepper and hints of caramel supporting the blend. Buzzing into the final third, the delicious flavor profile continues with notes of walnuts entering the hive. The final puffs were buttery smooth and full of flavor with no bite. The Green Hornet smokes at a medium to full body. The burn was good with little waviness and some flaky ash. The draw was great with plenty of smoke to fill the palate. As I mentioned in other post, I’m a huge fan of James Brown’s blends and this is no exception. Gone are the days of just traditional cigars with little flavor. Hello to the world of creativity, flavor bombs and works of art. This cigar is the epitome of all those things and takes the smoking experience to a new level. If you’re a boutique fan like myself and love the out of the box flavor blends get your hands on the Green Hornet and put the sting back into those tastebuds…
