Nomad Fin de los Mundos, End of the Worlds

Nomad Fin de los Mundos, End of the Worlds

Just about 5 years ago, the Nomad Cigar Company burst onto the cigar scene with great sticks and unconventional catchy names. Fred “GodFadr” Rewey, founder of Nomad, is not your typical Cigar company guy. What I mean by that is, he’s not the 5th generation, didn’t grow up on Tobacco fields or was an heir to the throne of a century old company. To the contrary, he was like most of us. Rewey was a guy who loved cigars and decided to make it his business. After full immersion in leaves and learning, Rewey began to crank out masterpiece after masterpiece. Today, I have what is the latest of the Nomad collection, the Fin de los Mundos. I will be smoking the Corona Gorda size 5.5×48. The wrapper is a Pennsylvania Broadleaf, medium brown in color with a bit of a  distressed leather look to it with a small hint of tooth. The cold draw is a semi-sweet hay and tobacco with little spice. Upon lighting the foot, I’m getting little earth, leather, dark chocolate and some spice. Smoking into the first inch or so, the profile is earth, leather, dark chocolate, anise and soft red pepper. The retrohale is a nice red pepper spice with hints of chocolate. Into the mid section the profile smoothens, moving chocolate closer to the front and adding elements of woods, making this blend very enjoyable so far. As I smoke into the final third, the blend sustains it’s wonderful performance, continuing to smoothen as I puff away. Interesting thing to note, which I found impressive, the level of pepper stayed consistent throughout the cigar while other notes changed a bit. I mentioned that because controlling spice through the duration of a cigar is tough to do while balancing flavors. The final puffs were delicious with elements of cashews showing face in the last stages. The Fin de los Mundos smokes as a strong medium to full body, did get wavy for a second but with a correction it burned great. The draw was good with plenty of smoke to fill the palate. I’ve got to say, I really enjoyed this smoke. It was very different, yet very flavorful. The Nomad Fin de los Mundos is a great change of pace. This cigar is a great kick start to a new week, kickoff the weekend or to break up the monotony. So get them while they’re hot and smoke like it’s the end of the world. Enjoy the Goodlife…
