Crowned Heads Four Kicks Maduro, Kicking Flavor up a Notch
Nashville Tennessee is a city with many greats. Great music, great food and great sports makes for a great destination for travel or a great place to be from. Nashville is also responsible for great cigars. In 2011 a new star was born as a result of one slipping away. Due to a merger in 2010, Nashville nearly saw it’s cigar traditions fade away. Thanks to Jon Huber and Mike Conder, Nashville would remain a tradition in cigars with the introduction of Crowned Heads. Inspired by the song “Four Kicks” of another Nashville gem, the Kings of Leon, Huber and Conder decided what better way to kick off your new line of cigars than with the Four Kicks. Since 2011, the Four Kicks has been an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Today I’ll be smoking the new Four Kicks Maduro featuring a Habano Maduro wrapper. I’ve got the Robusto size cut and ready to smoke. The outer appearance is a beautiful oily medium brown with visible flat veins and a bit of tooth. The dry draw is a good bit of pepper, tobacco and earth. Upon lighting the foot, I get leather, spice and espresso. Smoking through the first third, The blend is a leather, cream, espresso and black pepper. The retrohale is a delicious spicy cream with a hint of nutmeg. The mid-section introduces nutmeg into the already impressive blend giving us tasty smoke with a creamy finish. The final third smoothens with leather backing up a bit and espresso coming through strong with cream, nutmeg and black pepper to support. The final puffs were enjoyable and left a good taste on the palate. The Four Kicks Maduro smokes at a medium plus. The burn was good with no issues and a good draw. This was a good stick and offered up good flavors. I am a fan of Crowned Heads and the Maduro did not disappoint. If you are in the mood for a good hearty smoke and enjoy the rich flavors of Maduro, reach for the Four Kicks and kick your tastebuds up a notch…
