Undercrown Sun Grown, Raising in the Sun
It’s tough to go into any reputable tobacconist and not see see Drew Estate Cigars. The reason is pretty simple, they make damn good cigars. Today, I’ll be highlighting what I’m sure will be just another great smoke in the already impressive line of Drew Estate. On deck is the Undercrown Sun Grown Corona. The Ecuadorian Sumatra Sun Grown wrapper is a light to medium brown with a bit of reddish hue with some visible but flat veins. The band is the recognizable Undercrown logo but in red. The cold draw is the taste of sweet classic tobacco and some chocolate notes. The first few draws on the Sun Grown is heavy in Cedar and a little pepper in the back end. Moving on up through the first third, the cedar slows down, hints of lemon peels and earth jump on board and is finished with a dash of cayenne pepper. On the retrohale, the pepper is a bit more pronounced with cedar in the background. The mid section of this stick really opens up and these flavors start to balance out and form a much more enjoyable experience. The burn did get a little wavy on me so it did require a little touch up but the taste is worth it. Smoking into the final third, the flavor profile continues it’s mastery while adding a much appreciated dose of toasted walnuts. The final puff was just as good as the body with no bitterness at the end. The Undercrown Sun Grown smokes at a good medium, the burn was ok with just one touch up and the draw is perfect. I’m a little more critical to Sun Growns as my favorite cigar is a Sun Grown, but The Undercrown definitely has my stamp of approval. This would go in the buy em by the box category. This is another good everyday smoke and with a little age, should be even better. So step outside, spend some time in the Sun with the Undercrown Sun Grown and enjoy the good life….
